On December 11, 2023, the second part of the Basic Life Support Training was conducted. The second day of the training primarily focused on First Aid Training and it was attended by 18 participants. The training was conducted at the De Los Reyes Auditorium of the School of Labor and Industrial Relations. The event was conducted in collaboration with the UP-PGH Department of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services.
The First Aid Training was delivered by resource persons, Dr. Cheska Simon and Dr. Angelique Tarroza who are resident doctors at the University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine and Stephanie Reyes, a nurse and emergency medical technician (EMT) at the UP – PGH Emergency Medical Services. The First Aid Training lecture and workshop centered on providing information on injury deaths, bandaging, splinting, lifting, carrying, and foreign body airway obstruction. Moreover, demonstrations for bandaging and splinting were also conducted.
In terms of evaluating the training’s effectiveness, the event garnered an overall score of 99.45%. The participants shared that their key main takeaway from the event was the practical demonstrations on bandaging and splinting techniques.
