Basic Life Support Training

The Basic Life Support Training was conducted at the School of Labor and Industrial Relations’s  De Los Reyes Auditorium on December 10, 2023. This training was made possible with the partnership with the UP-PGH Department of Emergency Medicine. The Basic Life Support Training mainly focused on equipping active Psychosocial Volunteers on the basic skills on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The whole day training was attended by 23 participants. 

The training was led by Dr. John Arvie Limbo, assisted by Dr. Joyce Mamangon, they served as the resource persons from the UP-PGH Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Limbo’s presentation focused on sharing information on sudden cardiac arrest and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). For the main part of the training Dr. Limbo demonstrated the techniques and strategies for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wherein participants were divided into groups for practicing the steps and techniques of CPR. 

For the evaluation, the event was given a 100% rating by the participants. One of the key takeaways mentioned by the participants was how performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation must never be delayed especially during times of emergency. The participants also mentioned how the practical demonstration of CPR and how they were able to practice was one of the activities which had a positive impact on them.
