Women of Pahinungod: Stories of Service

In the March of 2025, to celebrate Women’s Month, the UPD Ugnayan ng Pahinungód will highlight the experiences and contributions of its women volunteers. The Women of Pahinungód initiative will document their stories through interviews, showcasing their impact and how volunteerism has shaped their lives. This initiative recognizes their efforts and hopes to inspire others in the UP community to serve.

QUEERAPATAN: A Gender and Human Rights Roundtable Discussion

The Gender and Human Rights Roundtable Discussion is an initiative by Ugnayan ng Pahinungod UP Diliman to engage Pahinungod volunteers and other participants in a thorough exploration of pressing gender and LGBTQ+ issues. Recognizing the crucial connection between gender and human rights, this session, facilitated by a panel of experts, will address essential topics including gender-based violence, LGBTQ+ rights, and intersectionality. Volunteers will gain in-depth insights and practical knowledge from the discussion.

#UPDPahinungodHighlights2025 #UPDTSP2025BASAYA Culminating Activity 2025With hearts full of joy, the BASAYA Program celebrated its first Culminating Activity at Lupang Pangako Elementary School on November 29, 2025. BASAYA completers, their parents, volunteer tutors, assessors, trainers, and partners gathered to honor the conclusion of the first implementation of BASAYA (Basa+Saya) Tutorial Service Program of UP Diliman Ugnayan ng Pahinungód.The event carried mixed emotions - gratitude for the milestones achieved and sadness as the program came to a close. Parents expressed how BASAYA strengthened their children’s reading abilities, boosted their confidence, and improved their collaboration with peers. Volunteers also reflected on the fulfillment and inspiration they gained from teaching and guiding the learners, encouraging them to continue reading even after the program.Heartwarming performances from learners, parents, and volunteers added joy to the celebration. Each BASAYA completer received a certificate, medal, and simple gift, while volunteers and partners were honored with certificates and tokens of appreciation.The BASAYA Culminating Activity served as a beautiful reminder of what compassion, collaboration, and dedication can achieve—a celebration not just of endings, but of new beginnings for every child and volunteer touched by the program. ... This marked the 21st BASAYA session at Lupang Pangako Elementary School - a milestone built on months of dedication, patience, and shared learning.In the afternoon, a Kumustahan Session facilitated by Prof. Francis Grace Duka-Pante of the UP College of Education provided an opportunity for volunteers to reflect on their experiences in the program. Many shared how the program touched both their minds and hearts—enabling them to develop new skills, strengthen their confidence, and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.The volunteers expressed sincere appreciation for the relationships formed and for the opportunity to contribute to the learners’ development.
